Philemon

Letter by Paul to Philemon

This letter of Paul is written to Philemon a believer in Christ Jesus and is all about a slave Onesimus. Onesimus was a slave of Philemon which has runaway and has wronged Philemon. He became a Christian thereafter and Paul had part in this. Paul see Onesimus as one of his sons, a beloved brother to all. The setting was when Paul was in prison, an old man and Paul also had some part in Philemon salvation previously. Paul is now asking Philemon from a love standing viewpoint and not from an authoritative apostle in Christ Jesus standpoint to forgive Onesimus and receive him back as a brother in Christ Jesus. He adds that if Onesimus has done anything wrong to him or owes him anything that he should put this on Paul and he will repay.
